Aligned with the 2026 World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion theme “Ubuntu: United for a Safer Future,” this pre-conference session brings together multiple CDC Foundation-supported programs – including lead poisoning prevention, drowning prevention, and Data for Health – to highlight the importance of evidence-based action for injury prevention. The event will showcase how data, partnerships, and policy engagement can drive safer outcomes. As part of the program, the Data for Health Data to Policy participants will present evidence-based, injury-focused policy briefs, including policy recommendations to improve health outcomes and prevent injury.

This session explores how maritime safety is created collectively by linking prevention, training, coordination, and response across the maritime system. Building on findings from a multi-phase initiative led by the Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit and partners, participants will validate emerging research priorities, identify evidence gaps, and explore implementation-focused solutions that can accelerate progress, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Through collaborative discussion and practical exercises, attendees will contribute to a shared roadmap for generating the evidence needed to inform policy, strengthen implementation, and create safer, more sustainable mobility systems worldwide.
